Allied Health Careers is working with an organization that provides acute and specialist mental health services in South Dublin.

As a Senior Counselling Psychologist you will carry out Psychological assessments, developing and to providing individual, family and group therapeutic interventions/strategies to patients/residents.

The Role:

  • Work with and supervise, when appropriate, Student/Trainee/Assistant Psychologists.
  • Carry out research, especially in the area of service evaluation, regarding patients/residents attending the service.
  • Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence-based, care planning approach.
  • Plan discharge or transfer of the patient/resident between services as appropriate.
  • Assist with the formulation of policies, protocols, guidelines and procedures which will ensure that the highest standard of patient-focused care is provided within available resources.
  • Initiate, facilitate and take-part in relevant research and promote research awareness within the clinical service of the centre.

The Person:

  • Third level degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent – first or second class honours) in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honours were obtained in that subject, accredited by the PSI.
  • Recognised postgraduate professional qualification in Counselling Psychology, or an equivalent qualification validated by the Department of Health.
  • 5 years post-qualification clinical experience in the area of professional psychology.
  • Applicants must demonstrate that they have acquired, in appropriate health settings (i.e. Adult Mental Health/Psychiatry of Later Life), at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification, or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist in adult mental health.
